How to prepare and what to wear for CMA Fest-A guide from Nashville based, Composed Rose

How to prepare and what to wear for CMA Fest-A guide from Nashville based, Composed Rose

June 02, 2019

This year’s CMA Fest Extravaganza is almost here! The main event festivities get started on Thursday June 6th and end Sunday June 9th this year; however, many guests will come earlier or stay longer to enjoy the rest that Nashville has to offer. Be prepared for large crowds, LOTS of GREAT music and a TON of FUN! With Composed Rose being headquartered  here in Nashville, Clarisa and I have been lucky enough to have this event in our backyard year after year. After attending this wonderful event for a decade or more, we have learned a lot of Do’s and Don’ts, so thought it would be nice to share a few tips, tricks and helpful links to help you prepare.

Hopefully at this point you have already gotten your hotel or accommodations handled and will just be looking to nail down specifics. If not, check for a lot of great information about the city and places to stay in or around the downtown area.

Be sure to go to and check out all of the great events, lineups and information they provide. You can also download the CMA Fest app which will be very helpful in planning your days so you don’t miss out on seeing your favorite artists. The evening sessions, at Nissan Stadium, get the most publicity, but make sure to check out the daytime lineups because you may find some of your favorite artists playing for free! Also, because Nashville is not short on amazing talent, don’t forget to check out some of the great bars and restaurants in the area as well. You may have a front row seat to hear the next rising star that will be performing inside the stadium next year. That is personally, one of my favorite things about Nashville!

The main thing to remember for your trip is that it will likely be HOT HOT HOT! Even if the sun isn’t blazing down, Nashville always has humidity that will make it feel warmer than the actual temperature. My number one piece of advice If you take nothing else away, is to stay hydrated! Especially when the alcoholic beverages are flowing, you don’t want to end up missing all of the fun just because you didn’t drink enough water!!!

Below is my list of essentials to think about and to remember to bring before heading out for a CMA Fest fun day!

  • Sun protection: Sunglasses, hats (cowboy hats, straw hats, ball caps will all be making appearances), and last but not least...SUNSCREEN! You cannot forget this, and if you do, pick some up when you get here. Even if the sun isn’t out, you can and will get sun if you are outside all day.
  • Make sure you charge your phone and have some backup battery power: If you don’t have a portable charger, grab it today! You will want to have the CMA Fest app,,  to stay on top of the schedules, take lots of selfies or photos at meet and greets and who knows what other great things you may want to look into once you get here in our great city. An alternative to carrying an external charger would be a good phone charging case. They are great options because they charge up quickly and give your phone the added boost and just snaps onto your phone like your normal charger. There are lots of options so a quick Google or Amazon search will be a great help in choosing the right one for you.
  • Purse no larger than your hand or a clear bag: They are not kidding about this rule if you are trying to enter any and all locations, especially Nissan Stadium. Every year we see people throwing purses away rather than paying the crazy fee to check an item or take the long walk back to the hotel or car. All clear bags are allowed as long as they don’t exceed 12” X 12” X 6” or you can have a clutch if it doesn’t exceed 5.5” X 8.5”.
  • Raincoat or Poncho: Make sure, just in case, you bring a raincoat or poncho because an umbrella will not be allowed into the stadium and will make the people around you pretty upset when it is dripping on them all day. If you forget this one, there are usually ponchos being sold at a very expensive price but you can usually still get one.
  • The obvious but worth stating essentials for the day: DON’T FORGET YOUR ID and your tickets!
  • A pen and notepad or something to get autographs (even when you least expect it, those times could arise)
  • Dress appropriately for comfort in the heat and all the ground you will cover during the festival,  but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be stylish and on point for all the fun each day may bring you: At Composed Rose, our clothes make you feel right at home with this country music loving crowd! Whether you want to wear a dress or shorts or wear a cowboy hat and boots or sneakers and maybe even a baseball cap we have you covered! Love your self, Love your body: How to dress for your body type.
Love your self, Love your body: How to dress for your body type.

I began to love myself for who I was at that time instead of who I was always trying to be. Ladies.. if you can do that.. you will blossom in so many ways. You will see your life becoming exactly what you always wanted it to be and all it takes is accepting yourself. I am rambling, I know. The whole point of this was to connect it to fashion... we are a clothing boutique after all... here’s where the stories connect. I realized low rise pants should never be on my body.. I am thrilled high rise came back in style simply so I could stock up on pants that were flattering to my figure. I understand now that crop tops aren’t my thing either. And as much as I love a one piece on other people.. unless they make them with a very long torso.. those things don’t love me back. I am ok with that now. I have found that I personally love the bohemian style. It flatters my body type and really speaks to my personality. I like things with flow. I love feminine touches. I also love a pair of cut off short and a simple tank top. Fashion isn’t about what the models are wearing or even what the Kardashians wear... actually it’s the opposite. That’s copying someone else’s style. Style is you. Who you are. What you love. What you feel good in.
